"The Flame Within"
My life in America has seen many events that challenge the spirit of my people. I am a child of the Civil Rights Era. Grandson of sharecroppers and great great grandson of slaves (I'm sure). I witnessed events that I didn't have any idea would be the events that changed the course of my future and the future of the world.

I have witnessed history unfold before my eyes since my birth 'til this moment. I have observed the transformation of a nation for the betterment of humanity. As a child I watched my people suffer on this land and I've watched them overcome through much pain and many tears. At the time, I could not fathom what their sacrifices would mean for me and for generations to come (my seed).

The courage, conviction, and determination of my people even in the face of savagery and death has proven their worthiness in the history of human kind. My people are champions of life and bearers of the Love from all the universal Gods.

I give praise to all that came before and sacrificed greatly to make this world a home and not a prison for us all. I take up the torch and hold it high, so the the light of truth, freedom and justice will shine forevermore.

I want "this little light of mine" to blaze until it scorches the spirit of every living thing. I want it to burn to the very core until it is like the words of the Prophet Jerimiah..."Like fire shut up in my bones." It is the fire of words that must be spoken, the fire that burns down mental barriors of prejudice and social orders, the fire that engulfs the mindless notions of racism until it is exhausted and breaths no more. "Burn Baby Burn" with the fires of truth. Feel the heat radianting...crossing oceans and warming the hearts and minds of humanity.

Today is a new day. Today is another day. Let us make right what was wrong with yesterday. Let us cary on that torch for those who will follow behind us on the path toward a "Global Humanity" that is the home where Love, Peace, Courage, and Unity ignite every heart.
